Just Swell

Whatever women do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily, this is not difficult." Charlotte Whitton

Reading anything written by Lesley Blume is such a delight. Creative, intelligent, independent nice women have inspired me ever since I first watched A Letter to Three Wives. Even as a girl, I identified with Linda Darnell's character, Lora Mae.

Those of you who've been visiting with me for any length of time, the preturnaturally bored one must assume, know how very much I enjoy the interesting thouights of Mr. Edward Monkton. And now he shares with us his new animation, The Pig of Happiness, which can be got as a widget here. There are also wonderful messaging images in the downloads section, or one can send a Google Mail greeting. Little known fact: Whenever I behold Mr. Monkton's website, I find myself overcome with an urge to perch a tiny bird-shaped hat upon my noggin and totter around in highheels whilst carrying a lovely handbag. A totally inappropriate urge really, as "totter" would be quite accurate (having been born without the all-important sashay gene). And then there's the fact i've a large square head which holds up a rather plain face. Definitely not a hat head, with the possible exception of a beekeeper's hat, which would be functional in so many ways, but difficult to know what to pair with it. A tweed coat, perhaps, and sturdy walking shoes? I could change my name to Pernitha Bitwalder. A "Pernitha" could quite carry off a beekeeper's bonnet, I should think, and without eliciting a startled series of Oh Mys.

In April 1934, a bronze statue in his likeness was erected at Shibuya Station, and Hachikō himself was present at its unveiling. You'll be hearing a great deal more about Hachikō quite soon, via an Americanized telling.

The amazing work of artist Vladimir Gvozdariki is certain to captivate. There is much to see, and you can explore many of his galleries here.

"I studied fine arts, philosophy, and cognitive science in order to make animated and expressive things on a computer." Mighty impressive work by Achraf Kassioui. (via)
